HM Government have announced an Energy Bills Support Scheme non repayable grant of £400 in total to be paid in six monthly instalments, commencing provisionally on 1st October 2022, to domestic customers of the main national licensed energy suppliers.
The current scheme does not provide for customers of private network domestic electricity suppliers, such as ourselves, however the Government has promised to consider including these customers in the grant scheme and has stated that it will announce details of how and when households can access the support in the Autumn.

Switch2 have provided updated advice on the £400 Government grant as follows: there is still no decision as to how this will be paid and the Government is considering options. Customers will not receive a £66 reduction in their October bill but will receive payment when the payment mechanism is resolved. A further update will be given once the details are known.

The department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy have issued a statement to all MPs,summarised as follows. The £400 Government grant will be provided for households on non-standard energy systems, such as ours under the Energy Bills Support Scheme Alternative Funding. Details about grant eligibility will be issued shortly. The scheme will be delivered through local authorities. Eligible households will fill out a form on GOV.UK which will then be passed on to the Local Authorities. The scheme will be open for applications in January 2023.

The website portal on the GOV.UK website is now open, under their heading: Apply for energy bill support if you do not get it automatically. There is a telephone helpline offered. Online applications are requested to be submitted as soon as possible.

Re apartments electricity tariff from 1 April 2023. TMESL applied for a new discount scheme introduced by HM Govt for heat networks under the Energy Bills Discount Scheme (EBDS) and applied it to the apartments bills from 1 April in anticipation of confirmation. The result is that the contracted electricity tariff of £0.61345 per kWh plus 5% VAT was reduced to £0.34000 per kWh plus 5% VAT.
Confirmation of the new tariff has now been received from HM Govt and the utility supplier. This tariff will run until the current supply contract expires at the end of September 2023 when the benefit of a recently renewed contract at a significantly reduced tariff will commence. This new tariff has been fixed for a long term with some potentially beneficial variable elements further details of which will be notified in due course.
